Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Visit Soaring
In the seven years since its opening, Soaring Tree Top Adventures has had the pleasure of hosting many wonderful guests, including several well-known individuals. Recently we received a visit from the lovely Kelly Ripa and her family while they were vacationing in Colorado.
Kelly is perhaps best known for her presence alongside Regis Philbin as co-host of the morning talk-show Live! with Regis & Kelly, as well as a variety of other roles including Hayley Vaughan Santos on All My Children. Her husband, Mark Consuelos, is also an easily recognizable celebrity, having starred alongside Kelly for several years on the soap opera All My Children as Mateo Santos. However, all of these roles were set aside as they celebrated the birthday of their daughter Lola with a visit to the world’s largest zip-line course.
As Kelly and Mark and their kids discovered, Soaring Tree Top Adventures is a great place for a birthday celebration or family vacation. Included in your day-long zipline adventure is a spectacular train ride in our first-class cars on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, a gourmet lunch on a magnificent platform suspended over the Animas River, and most importantly 27 exciting and unique zip line spans.
When asked which span was her favorite, Kelly Ripa responded, “Trying to pick a favorite zipline span is like trying to pick a favorite child…they’re all wonderful!”
To start your own Soaring adventure, call our office at (970) 769-2357 or check out our website www.soaringcolorado.com today.
Eco-insight: Summer is a time of minimal rainfall, so it is important to conserve water resources for the good of the planet and yourselves. If watering lawns, water early in the morning or late in the evening to minimize evaporation. Additionally, you can reduce water usage by only running your washing machine or dishwasher with a full load.
Three New Spans!

The summer solstice is just a week away and a visit to Soaring Tree Top Adventures’ zipline is a great way to kick off your summer. Your day includes a spectacular train ride in our first-class Tall Timber Legend cars on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, top-notch Petzl climbing equipment, 27 spans full of exciting surprises, a gourmet lunch eaten on a platform suspended over the Animas River, and our fast-paced river spans. The day culminates with our ever popular 1400 foot zip-line span where you can reach scintillating speeds of up to 35 miles per hour.
The 1400 foot span was added in 2009 and after two years we decided more spans would be fun. So with the addition of three new spans the world’s largest zip-line course just got larger! Months of research, scouting, and building went into these spans and you really see the results. The first two spans are parallel and perfect for racing a friend or family member. This really brings out the competitive spirit in our guests.
The base of Tree 31 is full of smack talking and whispered strategy. Stepping up to the span it’s game on and you soar 606 feet to see who is the fastest (Hint: a quick smooth start can give you the edge and aerodynamic form is critical). If you didn’t beat your racing companion today you can always return tomorrow for a rematch. The racing spans are Soaring’s second longest so everybody is a sure winner! The third new span is 230 feet and exhibits an artistic touch followed by an ecology talk about one of the larger predators roaming the San Juan National Forest.
So come see Soaring’s three new spans and bring along a racing companion. Call our office at (970) 769-2357 or check out our website www.soaringcolorado.com today.
Eco-insight: Expand your horizons, explore your options, and consider the alternatives. Summer days are sunny and pleasant so instead of emptying your wallet at the fuel pump why not walk, cycle, carpool, or utilize public transportation. Not only is alternative transportation economical and earth-friendly, it also has numerous heath benefits and can help connect you with people in your community.
Ranger Training
Here at Soaring Tree Top Adventures we have lots of fun, and we do it every day! Yet we also take safety very seriously and our great safety record proves it. Here’s what one guest had to say about Soaring’s focus on safety; “We felt very safe the entire day as the sky rangers and construction of the zip lines and platforms were all about safety and making us feel comfortable”. The whole Soaring staff works very hard to make sure your visit to the world’s largest zip-line course is something you will remember for a very long time. Especially memorable spans and guest favorites include Aspen Alley, our new parallel racing spans and Soaring’s 1,400 foot span. There’s a reason that Soaring is the top-ranked Durango destination and an international sensation.
Guests frequently rave about how the staff added a great personal touch to their family vacation. One guest’s online review on Tripadvisor said “Soaring was so much fun but the staff made the experience great. The equipment was safe and the staff were very knowledgeable and hilarious”. Each Ranger with you in the trees has gone through four weeks of intense training. During this time we teach them to send, receive, retrieve, and the other skills necessary to safely navigate guests through the zip-line course. Each Ranger must also complete a forty-hour First Responder medical course. Our staff’s friendliness, hospitality and attention to detail is really apparent throughout the day.
If at the end of the day you don’t feel like you are saying good bye to a bunch of your long-time friends, you haven’t been Soaring. So come make new friends and join in on the fun. Call our office at (970) 769-2357 or check out our website www.soaringcolorado.com today.
Eco-insight: Spring is here and that means spring cleaning. Be sure and use earth-friendly cleaning products, which can be found in any grocery store and are much safer than conventional harmful products. Also instead of throwing unwanted items in the garbage donate those gently used household items to your local thrift store.
The Adventure Begins
Here at Soaring the first week is already behind us and what an adventure it has been! For those of you still waiting to visit the world’s largest zipline course here is a first taste of what to expect. The adventure begins aboard our first-class railcars on the historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. After passing through some of the most beautiful scenery the San Juan Mountains have to offer, the train stops at Tank Creek to take on engine cooling water. As a silence settles over the train your excitement and anticipation grows.
The door swings open and in steps a stranger. You are on an historic train but this is not a dramatic Western train robbery. The figure before you does not have a six shooter strapped at the waist, but there is a good amount of metal jangling about as she strides forward. Adorned in the finest Petzl harness the smiling Eco Ranger begins to prepare you for the adventurous day ahead. As the train begins moving again your heart rate rises along with your excitement.
Soon the Eco Ranger directs your attention to the left side of the car. You’ve just pinpointed the brightly dressed Sky Ranger when he jumps on the zipline cable and soars across the span, spinning and flipping upside down. Soon you will be doing tricks just like our rangers, but first we must de-board the train and get you your own Petzl harness. Properly outfitted for your exciting day in the trees a Sky Ranger begins to lead you up to the first span. And so the adventure begins at Soaring Tree Top Adventures! If you haven’t already booked a tour with our wonderful office staff, please give us a call today and experience the Soaring adventure for yourself.
Eco Insight: It’s springtime and a great way to experience the season is to plant your own garden or house plants. A few flowers or herbs add delightful decoration or fantastic freshness to your table. Visiting your local farmers’ market is another great way to enjoy spring’s bounty and connect with your community.
