Durango Mountain Zip Line: Breathtaking Natural Beauty
Colorado’s natural beauty is part of what makes our Durango mountain zip line so special. Visitors come from all over to breathe fresh mountain air and take in stunning views. Southwest Colorado’s San Juan Mountains are the southern most section of the Rocky Mountains. Colorado visitors often hike or drive above tree-line to see alpine ecosystems. This time of year, colorful wildflowers fill alpine meadows and you may even see a Bighorn Sheep sipping from a mountain stream! The San Juan Mountains contain 13 of Colorado’s famous 14er’s.
Mountain Adventures
Those visiting our breathtaking mountains are often looking for adventure. Besides visiting the world’s largest zip line course, options include white-water rafting, jeeping, hiking, and rock climbing. White-water rafting on the Animas River can include rapids from Class 1 to 5. Class 1 may hardly rock the raft while Class 5 will certainly soak everyone aboard. The Alpine Loop starts in Silverton and is an excellent way to let the mountains take your breath away without wheezing. All you’ll need is a jeep or ATV and a good attitude about bumping over treacherous mountain passes. Those who wish to experience high elevation terrain by foot can summit one of Southwest Colorado’s many 14er’s. Some mountains require technical skills and ropes. Others, such as Handie’s Peak, are accessible to most hikers.
Here at Soaring Treetop Adventures we provide excitement of a different kind. To get to our property you must take the historic Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. The ride alone will get your heart pumping. On the Highline, the train hugs rock walls as the Animas River barrels through the canyon 200 feet below. The fun is only beginning. Our course is not your average zip lining experience and with 27 spans it is the world’s largest. Furthermore, you get to spend the day Soaring through an old-growth Ponderosa Pine forest. Our property is nestled in San Juan National Forest giving you a pristine mountain experience. Summer spots on our Durango mountain zip line are going fast so book now!
