The Soaring property is remotely located in the San Juan National Mountains and is not road-accessible. Guests reach the property by the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and staff live on-site. Since Soaring is so remote, housing and three meals daily are provided on-site for all staff. There is no TV or internet access available; however cell phones and wireless internet cards do work. Staff maintain a high level of professionalism at all times and are required to follow our uniform dress code. Soaring is looking forward to another busy season so if true Colorado adventure is what you seek and living in the outdoors is what you crave then Soaring might be the seasonal job for you. Seeking applicants for Ecology Interpretive Guides (Eco Rangers) for the upcoming summer season.
Eco Rangers are responsible for educating guests about the natural history of our remote property within an Old Growth forest in the San Juan Mountains. In between zip line spans, guests gather to meet with our Eco Rangers to hear more about the natural environment of the beautiful and remote Animas Valley in Southwest Colorado. The ecology tour runs hand in hand with the zip line course, and the Eco Rangers work side by side with the Sky Rangers, our zip line guides. We want guests to understand the importance of protecting the environment for future generations and to illustrate the simple tasks we perform to help
promote a clean environment. You’ll spend time researching and obtaining program information to help actively engage guests throughout the zip line course.
Duties for Eco Rangers include (but are not limited to):- Facilitating guests through our Durango zip line, focusing on guest safety as our first priority at all times
- Engaging guests while providing information about the local natural environment
- Maintaining a clean and professional appearance
- Identifying and remedying unsafe situations with regard to either equipment or guests
- Providing a safe, fun and unforgettable experience high up in the trees of the Animas River Valley
- A background in the fields of Natural Resources and Interpretation, Environmental Science, Outdoor Recreation, Biology, Botany, Ecology, or any other sciences preferred.
Requirements for Eco Rangers include (but are not limited to):
- Physically fit to work in a climbing harness all day.
- Comfortable working at heights in the trees.
- English speaking, polite, courteous and able to address large groups of guests with a clear and understandable voice.
- First Aid or higher medical training.

Seeking applicants for Zip Line Guides (Sky Rangers) for the upcoming summer season.
Sky Rangers are responsible for guiding the guests safely through our remote zip line course. The job is physically challenging, so you need to be very physically fit, and it requires 100% attention to safety, so you need to be detail-oriented. Sky Rangers are also responsible for daily course inspections, harness inspections, and course and equipment maintenance.
Additional Duties for Sky Rangers include (but are not limited to):- Guiding guests through our Durango zip line, focusing on guest safety as our first priority at alltimes
- Physically assisting in sending and receiving guests safely to each platform
- Maintaining a clean and professional appearance
- Actively engaging the guests in conversation throughout an entire day
- Identifying and remedying unsafe situations with regard to either equipment or guests
- Providing a safe, fun and unforgettable experience high up in the trees of the Animas River Valley
Requirements for Sky Rangers include (but are not limited to):
- Physically fit to work in a climbing harness all day with upper body strength to move on cables
- Comfortable working at heights in the trees.
- Ability to quickly make decisions and provide leadership, as well as follow directions
- Ability to lift small children on and off of Soaring® zip line cables.
- Frequently climb via ascenders up 60′ of rope and feel comfortable working in such environments.
- English speaking, polite, courteous and able to address large groups of guests with a clear and understandable voice.
- First Aid or higher medical training.

Soaring Tree Top seeks friendly, outgoing individuals who are interested in working in a unique mountain office environment. The office assistant position is great for people interested in guest services, marketing and the outdoors! Duties include but are not limited to phone interaction with zip line guests answering questions, managing social media marketing, blog writing, taking and processing guest reservations, collating forms, gift shop management, and other related office tasks.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent phone and interpersonal communication skills, an in-depth knowledge of all Microsoft programs and excellent organizational management skills. The Utility position is an integral function at Soaring. This job is made us of several cleaning and maintenance tasks throughout the day, which allow operations to run smoothly for our staff and guests. Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Morning cleaning of Soaring guest lunch platform tables and chairs.
- Prep water bottles and snack cooler for daily guest count, and distribute to Soaring guests at water stop.
- Prep Soaring guest lunch boxes with silverware, napkins, etc. and get ready guest general items (soup tureen, serving utensils, beverages, etc.)
- Assist chefs with other prep items as needed.
- Cleaning and mopping floors and cleaning surfaces in guest areas.
- Wash dishes in high production kitchen throughout the day as required.
- Put dishes away and keep the commercial dish washing area and kitchen surfaces clean.
- Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in staff dining areas.
- Periodic trash runs to take kitchen and other trash to the dump via tractor.
- Daily operation of commercial laundry.
A clean appearance and professional demeanor are required. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time and be able to drive a tractor.

Soaring is seeking staff cooks that can prepare staff meals from our set menus. Cooking experience required. Cooks provide three meals a day to our staff, and shifts may rotate from AM to PM. Must be able to follow recipes and adhere to meal cycles. Also may be involved in preparing and executing guest lunches from a set menu of homemade soup, salad, sandwich and dessert options for our zipline guests, served on an elevated platform. You would be responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy work environment.
Excellent organizational skills, a neat clean-cut appearance, and professional work ethic are required. You will be interacting with guests. Other requirements include:
- U.S. Citizen or have a J1 Visa
- Non-smoker
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Lift over fifty pounds
We generally work 5 days a week, 40 hours a week (no overtime). Staff are paid by monthly salary. Room and board is included. Staff housing is cabin-style. With our isolation, there is no TV and cell phone service is limited (depending on your provider). However, Durango is a dynamic college town, and many of our staff occasionally head into town to enjoy rafting, camping, internet cafes, and the ambiance of Durango.
