Things to Do In Durango
If you are looking for a vacation that you and your family won’t soon forget, I would highly recommend looking into visiting Durango, Colorado. Located in the “Four Corners” area of the Centennial State, it has many unique attractions and, of course, some great dining. The area is a well-known destination for mountain biking and hiking, but also offers quite a bit for the less adventurous. Here’s a look at some different things to do in Durango:
- Dining: Whether you’re looking for a family restaurant, fine dining experience, or just a good brew, downtown Durango has you covered. Venture into Old Tymers for a great burger or head into Season’s Rotisserie & Grill for a nice night out. Check out Ska or Durango Brewery’s tap room for a little taste of some local creations.
- Activities: Soaring Tree Top Adventures is the longest, fastest, and safest zip line tour around! Soar through the Aspens and Ponderosa pines before lunch and then traverse the mighty Animas River after your gourmet dining experience. The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad will be providing your transportation for the day. You can also see the San Juan Mountains from a different view by taking a 4×4 excursion or whitewater rafting trip with Outlaw tours. Mesa Verde National Park is also just a short drive west of Durango (approx 1 hr).
- Lodging: There are many choices when it comes to lodging in Durango. For a unique experience, visit the Strater Hotel located right on Main Avenue downtown. Also in close proximity to all of the stores and restaurants is the Rochester Hotel and Leland House Bed and Breakfast. In addition to these local accommodations, there are also many different chain hotels throughout the Durango Area.
